Knowing that my 6 year old was a little too big to sport a onesie :) I decided to translate the idea to a TShirt -- using some simple and inexpensive items I found at Michaels -- it was just too cute of an idea to pass up!
As I mentioned, I found EVERYTHING I needed at Michaels for only $6 TOTAL! Here is what you will need to create your own spiderweb Tshirt:
You could do a solid, a stripe, polkadot...whatever is on sale and fits into a Halloween color scheme! :)
You will also need a spider! ....I really hit the jackpot with my spider find, not only was it glittery and inexpensive ($1.99 at Michaels) but it also came with an attached alligator clip!!!!
First: Unwrap your doily and place it on the front of the TShirt in whichever way you desire -- I decided to off-center mine slightly to give it more visual interest. Once you find the right spot, go ahead and stick a pin in it! You should only need one pin, right in the middle of the doily....just make sure you are only pinning through the top layer of the TShirt...do not catch the backside too!
Next: Take your pinned doily shirt to you sewing machine and, USING A THREAD THAT MATCHES YOUR DOILY, stitch around the entire circumference of the doily -- stitching as close to the edge as you can without exposing too many stitches. *Again, BE SURE you are only stitching the doily to the FRONT of the Tshirt! DO NOT stitch all the way through to the back of the TShirt!* Repeat the stitching, this time moving closer to the center of the doily. When you are done, the inside of the TShirt will look something like this....
SUPER simple right!?
